After returning from New Orleans, I think I can speak for most of us when I say we’re all experiencing some post-NOLA blues. From the beautiful weather, authentic food, being surrounded by marketers from all over the country, and let’s not forget the Hurricane drinks, it all made the weekend one that we will never forget.
One of the first seminars I attended was the “Career Advice” Q&A, which entailed four seasoned professionals with a wide range of industry experience.
Seriously though, can you think of a better way to kick off a conference to job-seeking college kids, than with some career advice?
Like most Q&As, the panel started out with prepared questions, later opening the floor to the students to ask their own. Having the opportunity to listen to how these professionals excelled in the field was not only inspiring but also helpful as we all gained some useful insight into our own futures.
Finally the moment arrived that every eager college student was waiting for, an open floor for questions. It was interesting, and even comforting to hear how other students had the same questions and concerns about paving the way towards their career as I did. For example, what’s the best way to stand out in a group of individuals that are arguably all the same? Or how do I design my resume?
Overall, the panel did a tremendous job giving us tips for our futures, especially ones that we may not necessarily get in the classroom. This was just the beginning of the conference and what an inspiring way to kick it off. I took away plenty of insightful information and tips that I know I’ll be able to use to take my marketing career to the next level!
