Marketer of the Month

Grace Brinkerhoff

August 2017

Grace Brinkerhoff is our St. John Fisher College AMA Marketer of the month for August 2017!

Q: What inspired you to join SJFC/AMA?

I changed my major to marketing and was looking for resume and internship help so I went to an SJFC AMA resume workshop on a whim. I loved all of the professional development opportunities that AMA provided it members and I just kept coming back.

Q: What would you say is the biggest benefit of being part SJFC/AMA?

Growing your network! You never know who you are going to meet at an alumni or professional development event. I have loved building connections with a wide variety of marketing professionals through SJFC AMA.

Q: What has been your favorite project/event while in SJFC/AMA?

Marketing Week! We celebrated the field of marketing with 20 different local and national companies covering everything from pharmaceutical sales to new product marketing strategies. I am so proud to have put it together and of all the opportunities that it provided our members and Fisher students.

Q: If you could be anyone for a day (dead or alive) who would it be?

Emily Weiss, she is the founder and CEO of Glossier Cosmetics. She started as an assistant at Vogue and blogger of Into the Gloss. She has built a successful cosmetic brand with an amazing philosophy on beauty and message to women. She is a huge role model for me and I would love to be her for a day.

Q: Where are 3 places you would like to visit on holiday and why?

Three places that I would love to travel to are St. Lucia, the Grand Canyon, and the northeast of France. St. Lucia is so beautiful, I would love to go there and spend the whole trip laying on the beach. Hiking the Grand Canyon on New Year's Eve and watching the sunrise to start the year is on my bucket list - I can't wait to get there. Lastly, I would love to to take a girls trip with my mom and sister to the northeast of France to visit Champagne and Les Sources De Caudalie spa.

September 2017

Emily Risch is our St. John Fisher College AMA Marketer of the month for September 2017!

Q: What inspired you to join SJFC/AMA?

I was inspired to join AMA because I wanted to get a head start on developing my professional skills and learn more about the marketing field. The opportunity for alumni connections was also very appealing to me since I’d like to establish my career in Rochester after graduation.

Q: What has been your favorite project/event while in SJFC/AMA?

My favorite project would probably be planning Involvement Fest because it was my first official responsibility in my new role as VP of Membership and it was so exciting to see so many people sign up and be interested in what our club does. My favorite event was definitely the conference in New Orleans because it was such an honor to be given the opportunity to go as a freshman and I learned so much in the few days that I was there.

Q: What would you say is the biggest benefit of being part SJFC/AMA?

The biggest benefit of being in AMA is probably the opportunities that are available from networking in the Rochester area and even networking at conferences. At last year’s ICC in New Orleans, I was approached by a representative from Staples and offered an internship after my performance in the sales role play competition, and it was such a confidence boost to get that kind of recognition from an actual business professional who was impressed with my skills and what I had to offer. AMA is so helpful for any areas of your professional skills that you want to improve, and even for making your resume better.

Q: If you could be anyone for a day (dead or alive) who would it be?

If I could be anyone for a day, I would be Audrey Hepburn because she was one of my inspirations when I was younger and I want people to look up to me like I looked up to her.

Q: Where are 3 places you would like to visit on holiday and why?

Since I’m a history buff and I love mythology and architecture, I’d really love to visit Greece. I’d also like to go to the Great Wall of China because I love a good view that gives me the feeling of being on top of the world. My third destination would have to be Italy so I can experience the amazing culture and, of course, the food 🙂
