Kelly Vanderwall is our St. John Fisher College AMA Marketer of the month for November 2018!
While there are tons of professional benefits, I honestly think the best benefit is getting to know more students from The School of Business. Lots of members of the club are in your classes, so it's nice to get to know them and know that you are there to support each other. Plus, most of us are taking the same classes, so we can all understand each other's struggles and complain about them together!
Q: What has been your favorite project/event while in SJFC/AMA?
Going to the International Collegiate Conference in NOLA has definitely been my favorite part of AMA. It is one of the few places out of the state that you can go where people have actually heard of St. John Fisher College. The best part has to be the awards ceremonies because we win so many awards, even though we're such a small chapter! Most people have never heard of St. John Fisher College, but by the end of the first night of the awards ceremony, it feels like everyone knows who we are. Last year I advanced to the final round of the Perfect Pitch Competition and while it was nerve wracking, it was a pretty cool experience to be giving my pitch in front of about 20 judges. I also really enjoyed touring NOLA and getting to know the people I roomed with better (Shout out to Marissa, Emily and Sam for a great time!).
Q: If you could be anyone for a day (dead or alive) who would it be?
I kind of have an obsession with football, and specifically the Atlanta Falcons. I guess if I could be anyone for a day I would be Matt Ryan (the Falcon's quarterback). I secretly wish I had played football when I was younger because I grew up watching the game and think I'd be pretty decent at it. In my opinion, Matt Ryan in a phenomenal quarterback and think it would be really fun to play a game as him.
Q: Where are 3 places you would like to visit on holiday and why?
1. Australia: I would love to go scuba diving near The Great Barrier Reef, see the Sydney Opera House, hold a koala, and just explore the cities of the country.
2. Italy: my ancestors are from Italy and I think it would be really neat to see where they grew up. I have also heard that it is beautiful!
3. California: I'm hoping to go here in February to run a half marathon, but I've always wanted to experience the '"surfer lifestyle", see the The Golden Gate Bridge, and walk around LA.
